Graduated from the Biological Faculty I. I. Mechnikov State University of Odesa in 1977; in 1985 he defended his candidate's thesis at the specialized council of the Institute of Zoology and Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian SSR; the degree of candidate of sciences was awarded in 1986, in 1987 - the academic title of associate professor of the Department of zoology and hydrobiology.

In 2005, he defended his doctoral thesis, the degree of Doctor of Sciences was awarded in 2006. The academic title of professor of the Department of zoology was awarded in 2007.

The author of more than 120 scientific publications: 1 personal monograph, 7 collective monographs, 5 educational and methodological publications, 25 articles in specialized publications of Ukraine.

Scientific interests: ecology, ornithology, nature protecting
